3. Rotational and Axial Movements: The machine imparts two types of movement to the workpiece:



   a. Rotational Movement: The workpiece is rotated slowly and continuously. The rotational speed is carefully controlled to ensure precise thread formation.



   b. Axial Movement: The dies are moved towards the workpiece axially, applying pressure to deform the material and form the thread. This axial movement can be achieved through various mechanisms, such as hydraulic or mechanical drives.

4. Thread Rolling Process: As the dies move towards the workpiece, the material undergoes plastic deformation. The raised portions of the dies press into the workpiece, displacing the metal to form the threads. The material flows into the grooves or ridges of the dies, creating the desired thread shape.

5. Thread Formation and Sizing: The thread rolling process continues until the desired thread length is achieved. The machine is programmed or adjusted to control the depth, pitch, and shape of the threads being formed. Sizing dies may also be used to ensure proper thread dimensions and accuracy.

6. Thread Removal: After the thread rolling process is complete, the workpiece is released from the machine. The threaded workpiece is now ready for further processing or use.

Thread rolling machines offer several advantages over other thread-forming methods, such as cutting or chasing threads. The cold forming process of thread rolling provides improved thread strength, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy. It also increases the material's fatigue resistance due to the compression and work-hardening effect during the rolling process.
